Corporate Information in the Age of Big Data
Although the term “Big Data” has been discussed since the 1990’s, it is still, and will remain a very relevant term. Mainly this is due to the usefulness of analyzed data, and the insights that it provides to make more informed and educated decision-making.
Internal data of a corporation can help the organization to gain a deeper understanding of their customers, optimize operations, reduce costs, and develop new products and services. This allows for greater levels of work and product quality, efficiency, and effective application of the limited resources that an organization possesses. In short, it can determine the competitiveness of the organization as they move forward.
Big Data has been accumulating different between fields and industries for decades, and, although much data is retained for in-house use, a lot of it is available for use to the public, free and paid. One of the exceptions to this is corporate information. Corporate information, especially for small and medium sized companies is scarce, and even more so for those operating in newly industrialized or developing countries.

Samsung wants to make its Vietnam R&D center global hub
It is his mission to turn the Samsung R&D Centerin Hanoi into the Korean company’s top global research and development center, its Vietnam chief, Choi Joo Ho, has said.
“The first mission is to expand its research activities and enhance expertise,” the head of Samsung Vietnam Complex said at a conference on Sunday.
The conglomerate opened the US$220-million research center in Hanoi last December.
It would take Vietnam from being a global production hub for Samsung to a strategic base for major research and development, the company had said at the opening ceremony.
Singapore firm plans offshore wind farm in Vietnam
Singapore’s Sembcorp will work with a subsidiary of Petrovietnam to build an offshore wind power project in Vietnam that will transmit electricity to the city state.
Sembcorp, the developer of Vietnam Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs), signed a joint development agreement with Petrovietnam Technical (PTSC) on Friday.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who was on an official visit trip to Singapore, witnessed the closing of the deal.
Vietnam sets economic growth target of 9% for Red River Delta
The government has set an economic growth target of 9% a year from now until 2030 for the Red River Delta, which includes Hanoi.
It is 1.06 percentage points higher than the average rate in 2005-20, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said at a conference Sunday.
Industry and construction will remain the key sectors, contributing 47% to the growth, followed by services with 41%.
The government also targets per capita income to rise to VND274 million (US$11,624) by 2030 from VND103.6 million per person per year in 2020.

ASEAN Countries in Talks for Regional EV Ecosystem
ASEAN member states are in talks for a regional ecosystem of electric vehicles as chair Indonesia seeks to make Southeast Asia remain an epicenter of economic growth, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“This is about how we can set up a regional [EV] ecosystem that adopts the same or at least similar regulations. So every producer has a regional outlook and is not only focusing on the domestic [market],” Sidharto Suryodipuro, the ministry’s director-general for ASEAN cooperation, said on Monday at the Forum Merdeka Barat (FMB9) conference.
“We [ASEAN] have begun talking about it for the past year or so. We share a common understanding on this matter,” Sidharto said.
According to Sidharto, Indonesia has a comparative advantage — or even possibly a competitive advantage — in this field. As one of the world’s largest economies, the Southeast Asian bloc has what it takes to set the standards for EVs.
Indonesia’s Economic Growth Beats Most G20 Countries
Indonesia has created a roadmap for energy transition to achieve the target of net zero emissions by 2060, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif stated.
“Indonesia is committed to addressing matters pertaining to energy access, smart and clean technology, and financing in the energy sector,” the minister noted while addressing “Road to COP26 Indonesian Pathway for Net Zero Emission – Energy Transition” event on Thursday.
